As we welcome visitors back to the Algarve from both home and abroad, for those of you wishing to explore further than the idyllic beaches and stunning coastline, why not find time for some culture to visit one or two of the art galleries during your stay. Always an excellent way to take a look at local Culture with so many showcasing artists from the area but also an opportunity to enjoy pieces from international artists.

Palácio da Galeria
This gallery is also a museum, situated in a classic palace and which portrays notable moments through Tavira’s and Portugal’s history. Call in advance to find out which art exhibits will be on display at different times of the year.

ArtCatto Art Gallery
The beautiful ArtCatto Art Gallery, spearheaded by Londoner Gillian Catto, showcases work from international artists. Located further inland from the busiest parts of Algarve, this gallery in Loulé is a short drive from Faro, Albufeira, and Quarteira.

For those wishing to appreciate some beautiful examples of contemporary art, sculptures, and fine art digital prints, this gallery is amongst the top places to visit around Albufeira. Don’t expect the hustle and bustle of this popular tourist destination. The gallery is located off the beaten track and feels as if you have walked into an artist’s home and workshop. It’s also a great place to buy souvenirs and sells a mix of items around the artwork available

Lago art gallery
Specializing in selling fine art and ornamental pieces that fill your home with color. The owner, Pedro Alves has worked in a number of countries where he has resided. He has always had a passion for art and interior design. The shop/gallery sells wall art created by talented artists from around the globe as well as selected individual ornaments, sculptures, and pottery.

Lady in Red – Galeria de Arte
Why not pair your gallery experience with a wine tasting? Housed in a working co-op winery, the space is large with an industrial, urban vibe more common to big cities than small towns in the Algarve. The gallery showcases a range of both local, national and international artists. Located in the Adega de Lagoa winery, which still produces local wines from several Algarve vineyards, the gallery is perched above the bottling and processing part of the co-op, its runways and corridors giving a view of the action below. There is a mix of sculptures, paintings, and ceramics in spacious displays and excellent lighting.

Ana Archer Art Gallery
An artist from Brazil, Ana Archer showcases her works in this very personal gallery. Years of painting T-shirts on demand for impatient tourists, with quick-drying fabric paints, had taught her to apply and mix pigment quickly and her gallery showcases her vibrant works of acrylic on canvas.

Art Gallery Atelier Corine Thinon
An artist from France, Corine Thinon offers a personal touch and now exhibits her pieces for purchase in this gallery. Corine works with oil and acrylic. Well worth a visit with pieces starting at very reasonable prices.
